Free Home Energy Audits

Bovio’s is one of the foremost experts in energy conservation in South Jersey. We had the 2nd most energy conservation completions in New Jersey, and are in the top 30 in the Nation, earning EPA Century Club Awards in 2010 and 2012!

There is no one best way to conserve energy, it depends on a variety of factors, including the age and type of your home, the amount and type of insulation you have, how leaky your home is, your families habits and needs, along with the type of heating, cooling, and water heating equipment you have in your home.

Two seemingly identical homes that are right next door to each other could have drastically different energy usage profiles, so the first step to determine how we can help you conserve is an energy assessment (or energy audit).

The first step of the assessment is to evaluate your energy bills to determine how much energy you use, and discuss your habits, and any comfort issues you have in your home.

We then do a detailed inspection of the home including the following:

  • Evaluate insulation levels in walls, ceilings, and floors
  • Identify areas where air leakage could be present, using a blower door
  • Evaluate Furnace for efficiency level and safe operation
  • Evaluate Water Heater for efficiency level and safe operation
  • Inspect Air Conditioner for efficiency level
  • Evaluate window condition and efficiency
  • Evaluate home for any moisture/air quality issues
  • Inspect exhaust fans and dryer for proper operation and venting
  • Point out any inefficient lighting or appliances you have

After we have gathered all of this information we analyze it to see where you have potential to save energy, but we always keep the health and safety of the occupants in mind before we blindly recommend energy savings measures. Your home is a unique system and changing one aspect of it without considering what effect that change will have on the home as a whole could be detrimental. So please make sure any contractor you consider hiring takes the same steps before allowing them to make any changes to your home.

After we have analyzed your particular needs, we model your home’s energy usage in a computer modeling system endorsed by the state of New Jersey, to determine how much you could save on your energy bills. This computer model is based off of your actual utility bills and your homes actual size, insulation levels, air leakage, and mechanical systems.

We will prioritize what improvements you should make based off of comfort concerns you have and the energy savings that can be achieved, and provide you with options as to what would be best for you and your family.

If you decide to move ahead with a comprehensive energy conservation project that is modeled to save enough energy to qualify for the New Jersey Clean Energy Program’s Home Performance with Energy STAR Program, you could be eligible for up to $4,000 in rebates and 7 year, 0% financing.
